How We Play Tourist

-Let’s play Tourist-
We get asked multiple times a day what our favorite spots are in town. While we absolutely love our Design District neighborhood, there are also many other unique little areas to be found within the Savannah city limits! Since we're pretty certain that the majority of the best shopping in Savannah is in our sweet little neighborhood, for this round of playing tourist we focused mostly on food, drinks and activities outside of the usual spots you read about on travel blogs and such. These are spots full of mostly locals for sure...

Beyond Downtown…

Troupial - Started in 2019, this 100% Venezuelan concept just moved into it’s new home in march of 2022. With a menu full of Arepas, Venezuelan delights, and local cup to cup coffee, this sunny spot is sure to be a hit! We love the use of reclaimed and repurposed vintage pieces and glassware along with the table side coffee service makes this a great place to start your day! Heads up- in an effort to reduce waste and ensure that your coffee is an experience, Troupial does not offer to-go cups- want to get a coffee to-go? Bring your own clean reusable cup!

Picker Joe’s - This antique mall boasts that it’s “an experience like no other!” And they absolutely live up to that sentiment! 10,000sqf & 25,000+ items changing daily including antiques, vintage, mid-century furniture, lighting, artwork, vintage books, home decor, & so much more- they even have large architectural salvage room! Its a must for unique vintage finds!

Lone Wolf Lounge- A real locals spot tucked away in an unsuspecting building in a pretty quiet neighborhood. Lone Wolf has rotating events that range from karaoke and art exhibits, to movie screenings and themed parties. Open at 11am Monday- Saturday, withe a “Captains Brunch” Saturday mornings, this gem is a favorite of Savannah locals for sure.

(spotted at Lone Wolf! One of our favorite people accessorized like a pro in Custard treasures)
Starland Yard- Great spot for groups of all ages, this food truck park has a stationary bar and fantastic stationary pizza place. With rotating events (don't miss First Fridays!), corn hole, DJ’s and live music, there’s something going on here most nights- check their IG account to see what’s going on daily! It’s also conveniently located right near a great local brewery, Two Tides, Sulfur Art Studios and some other great little shops.

Graveface Records- Record store & arcade that often hosts shows and special events. Into oddities and spoke stuff? They’ve also got a museum full of them downtown.

Front Porch Improv- Local comedy group with regular performances that are open to the public and are always a good time!

Auspicious Bakery- outstanding local bakery specializing in all varieties of croissant and a regular selection of GF and vegan treats as well.

(this photo is from their original location just a few blocks from their current home which can serve many more people at a time, but don't be surprised if there is still a bit of a line! It always moves quickly though and is totally worth the wait!)

Heading out to Tybee? Check these spots out…

Fort Pulaski- History and outdoor sights

Tybee/Dolphin Tours - it’s very common to see dolphin playing in the water, especially when the weather  warms up!

Sea Wolf- great food, great drinks, fun spot. Usually has live music for Sunday Brunch.

Our Downtown Top Spots?

Crystal Beer Parlor- one of the oldest and longest continuously running restaurants in Savannah. They have a little bit of everything, it’s all good, and they are just a 3 and a half minute walk from the shop!

Savoy Society- We love everything about this spot! Great atmosphere, the drinks are always on point, the food is fantastic with a variety of options, and great specials and events. This is our favorite for a fun night out or celebration!

We consider ourselves to be very lucky to live in such a beautiful and lively place full of history and fantastic people and we love to share it with our guests, even if they live here too!

Make the most of living somewhere people vacation and get out there and try new places!
