Colour Theory
Posted by tara kirkland on
I love the idea that exposure to certain colours can really alter our moods and our way of thinking. Sometimes we choose certain colours for our walls or our power suit because we like how it feels, yet don't necessarily know why. Or we are attracted to a certain colour combination without explanation. Did you know there was actual science behind how colours make us feel? It's pretty fascinating.
So, that said, I was thinking about how to best start our mornings, and how to make the most of our new normal. I know a lot of us are working from home these days, with shelter in place all over the country/world, as well as engaging in social distancing. I think we could all use a little purposeful dose of positivity at the start of the day.
Each of us have our own morning routine. That said, mine starts with a hot beverage. For me, it's almost always black coffee made stove top in my Chemex, and on extra special days a Lavender London Fog.
THINK PINK
COMPASSION
Pink evokes feelings of peace, compassion, and love. It is also the color of femininity and nurturing, as well as understanding. Unlike its cousin red, pink is usually more subtle and cheerful. Lighter hues like this handmade CERAMIC MUG are more soothing and tranquil.
PURPLE
ROYAL AMBITION
The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic. Pour some coffee in me!
SEAFOAM GREEN
LUCK
Seafoam green has strong associations with nature and the environment. It is seen as the color of luck, freshness, and renewal. Pale greens like seafoam green are also thought to evoke youth and innocence. Start an innocent morning with this mug.
IN THE NAVY NOW
CONFIDENCE
Navy conveys importance, confidence, power, and authority, as well as intelligence, stability, and unity. It also carries a sense of elegance and sophistication. SophistiCUP!
TEAL
OPEN COMMUNICATION
Teal combines the calming properties of blue with the renewal qualities of green. It is a revitalizing and rejuvenating color that also represents open communication and clarity of thought. And to be honest, who doesn't need a little extra help with open communication? I am thinking this is the perfect mug for morning Skype meetings.
OCHRE
ENERGY
Ochre is the term for both a golden-yellow or light yellow brown color. Ochres are among the earliest pigments used by mankind, derived from naturally tinted clay containing mineral oxides. A fascinating color that has been around for ages! Use this mug to keep away melancholy feelings and provide yourself some much needed energy and vitality.
POPPY
SUCCESS
Need a little extra extravagance or luxury in your morning? This pretty poppy coloured mug also represents beauty and success. And I don't know about you, but I am saying YES! to SUCCESS!
